Our Mission and Values

Skyline Spartans Lacrosse Club's (SSLC) mission is to be the premier lacrosse program in the state of Washington, recognized for athletes with high levels of competitiveness, exemplary sportsmanship, commitment to teamwork and academic achievement.  We aim to “grow the sport” of lacrosse by developing student athletes from kindergarten through high school and helping them to achieve their maximum potential both on and off the field.  We strive to make lacrosse accessible and inclusive to all in our community.

Our Spartan Army Character Foundation

At Skyline Spartans Lacrosse, we believe championship culture is built long before game day. True leadership is often the unseen work—showing up early, supporting teammates, taking pride in the small details, and finding joy in others’ success. These are the habits that strengthen our teams and shape lasting character.

That’s why we’re proud to share our Spartan Army Character Foundation, a set of non-negotiable expectations for every Spartan player, regardless of skill level or experience. Grounded in The Spartan Way, our five core values guide how we practice, compete, and represent our community:

  • Discipline – Doing what’s needed, when it’s needed, regardless of feelings

  • Toughness – Facing challenges head-on, together

  • Excellence – Striving for our best in practice, games, academics and community

  • Brotherhood – Strength in unity, never leaving a teammate behind

  • Honor – Representing our families, school, and community with pride

This is more than just a standard—it’s our identity. Every Spartan carries these values, and together we form the SPARTAN ARMY: Discipline, Excellence, Brotherhood.

We know this culture extends beyond the sidelines, and we’re grateful for our families’ support in helping reinforce these values at home, in the stands, and throughout the community. Thank you for partnering with us in building a program where character comes first.

Skyline Lacrosse Mentorship Program

At Skyline Lacrosse Club, development is about more than wins and goals — it’s about who our athletes become along the way. The Skyline Lacrosse Mentorship Program is a cornerstone of that belief, intentionally connecting our youngest Spartans with our high school leaders to build skill, confidence, and character — one relationship at a time.

This unique program pairs Skyline High School players with youth athletes (grades K–8) for private, 1-on-1 skill-based lacrosse sessions. On the surface, it’s elite, personalized instruction. At its core, it’s something much more powerful: leadership in action. Our youth players receive coaching tailored to their individual needs, while our high school athletes learn what it means to lead, teach, and give back to the program that helped shape them.

Rooted in SSLC’s character standards of Brotherhood, Excellence, and Discipline, the Mentorship Program reinforces our club culture across generations. Younger players see firsthand what it looks like to work hard, be coachable, support teammates, and carry themselves with pride. Older players develop responsibility, accountability, and empathy as role models — lessons that extend far beyond the field.

Families love the Mentorship Program because it builds more than lacrosse skills. It builds confidence, connection, and a deeper love for the game. At the same time, the program serves as a meaningful fundraiser that directly supports our Skyline High School team, strengthening the entire SSLC community from the ground up.

What Do the Sessions Focus On?

Each mentorship session is thoughtfully adapted to the individual player, with an emphasis on fun, encouragement, and development. Focus areas may include:

  • Stick skills and fundamentals (cradling, passing, catching, ground balls)
  • Footwork, agility, and dodging
  • Defensive skills, positioning, and lacrosse IQ
  • Game situations, small-sided play, and building confidence under pressure

About Us

SSLC is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that organizes, develops and promotes boys lacrosse for schools that feed into Skyline High School in Sammamish, WA.  Our Youth program offers boys ranging from kindergarten through 8th grade the opportunity to learn the game, develop their skills and compete against other local teams in the Greater Eastside Lacrosse League (GELL).  Our High School program is for boys who attend Skyline High School and the teams compete in the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association (WHSBLA).

Student athletes participating in the SSLC’s training and competitive activities will enjoy the great game of lacrosse and learn the benefits of hard work, perseverance, ability to work as a team, and pride in achieving goals. Many of the most important learning experiences take place outside of the classroom and SSLC gives players the opportunity to test themselves against the best teams in their sport, through fair and honest play. Learning these lessons on the lacrosse field will lead our players to live better and healthier lives.

The Gregg Harris Memorial Award

The Gregg Harris Award was established in 2019 to honor the memory of Gregg, who gave his heart and soul to the great game of lacrosse we all love.  The goal of the award is to honor Gregg and a special person who goes beyond to help the Club, its players, and members.
